Enjoy a private tour from Beijing to the Great Wall of China, an iconic Chinese structural masterpiece. Your private guide will pick you up from your hotel around 9am or 1pm, depending on option selected, and take you to the wall, where you’ll spend approximately 2 hours climbing the Juyongguan section, a famous pass through the mountains located in an 11-mile-long (18-kilometer-long) valley. As the closest section of the wall to Beijing, Juyongguan is the ideal part of the wall to climb if you’re short on time.
Positioned in a valley surrounded by mountains, Juyongguan Pass previously served as a strategic military stronghold and was the site of many battles. In the Warring States Period (476-221 BC), the emperor built fortifications in this location. During the Northern and Southern Dynasties (386-589 AD), Juyongguan Pass was linked to the Great Wall of China.
In the middle of Juyongguan Pass is a platform called Cloud Platform. Inside the platform is an arched doorway and walls covered with carvings of heavenly gods and engraved sutra scriptures. This part of the pass is surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees; enjoy the picturesque views as you climb to the top!
